Beautiful morning heading for a very hot afternoon...early morning temp...74 degrees at 7am. The humidity is up a bit, but not unbearable...yet. Weather forecaster is advising that the high 90's and the humidity are going to be at dangerous levels for the possibility of heat stroke, and heat exhaustion today...plenty of fluids and staying out of the heat during the hottest part of the day is the advice. Figure most of that has to be for the newcomers and tourists...anyone that actually 'lives' here couldn't be dragged out of the A/C when it gets like this. Maybe that's an exaggeration, but still common sense and the sweat factor keep most in the cooler areas and shade. Can't believe we've got so dumb that we have to be told to be careful because of weather. Whatever happened to common sense??
Went to help out a long time friend last night with my hubby. They have a business and seems just about every vehicle they own is down at the moment for one thing or another. Hubby was at the down vehicle less than two minutes and was able to diagnose the issue and get things set so that it can be put back together. The friend has been fighting this truck for about two weeks now...he's very befuddled as to the reason the parts seemingly weren't right. And because of this, he's going in circles trying to make sense of it. We both tried to explain that 'its just one of those unexplainable things'...but truly, we both think that he mixed up the axles while trying to identify which one he needed. Mechanic stuff that does happen.
While we were at our friends' they mentioned their old house is currently unoccupied and after a bit of discussion, have offered it to us, if we are interested. The rent would be two hundred dollars cheaper than our current place....its a real live house, with an in-ground pool with a huge screen enclosure (the pool area is larger than this trailer). It sits on 2 1/2 acres, fenced with six foot privacy fence...and its just a few miles up the main road from where we are now. They used the yard for their work vehicles and the parts and such...would require quite a bit of heavy work to clean out the junk from the yard, but they also have the equipment needed (which both of us can operate) to do the work. The way the property has been set up would make an easy place for hubby to have an area to work on vehicles.
I'm a bit excited about the prospect of this place, but at the same time, I'm also hesitant to just jump into things. The close proximity to their other house would almost make hubby be 'on call' anytime the friend needed a hand...do we really want to do this? We are supposed to go back over tonight to help with the truck again and make sure that it goes back together smoothly. While we are there, maybe she and I can sit down and talk about this in more detail. When hubby and I discussed it after we came home, I reminded him that I still want to move to the mountain and he's in agreement with that. This place and the lower monthly payment would definitely make our finances spread further and that is a huge consideration.
And so the the question is...do we want to do this? Is this the oportunity that could make a major change for us? I'm still searching for answers at this time...
